Fantasy Drabble #214 “The Lich King”

“Bring him before me.”

The thief was manhandled into the room, hands tied, a look of confusion and panic on his face. As he was pushed down to his knees before the throne, he pleaded, “Please, I didn’t know. I thought—”

“You thought the master of this castle was a human King whom you could outwit and evade. And now? What have you found instead?”

The thief was silent.

“Your life are mine. Your soul is mine. You will serve me, and I will devour you.”

The thief whimpered, “You… you said ‘and’, don’t you mean to say ‘or’?”

“No.”
